Tentative deal reached to end strike that shut down Welland Canal

Unifor and the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation say they have reached a tentative agreement on a new deal to end a strike that began last Sunday that shut down the Welland Canal. Unifor says details of the tentative agreement will first be shared with members and will be made public once it has been ratified in a vote that will be scheduled in the coming days. Seaway Management said it would begin to implement its recovery program immediately and will start “passing ships progressively” as of today, with employees back on the job by 7 a.m.
