Niagara Regional Police responded just before 3:20 Friday morning to a robbery that just occurred at a 24 hour convenience store on Regional Road 24 near Regional Road 27 in Wainfleet. Officers spoke with the employee who indicated a lone male suspect entered the store brandishing a handgun. The suspect demand currency and cigarettes. A single shot was fired by the suspect into the ceiling of the store. The employee was not injured.The suspect left the store and got into a grey coloured SUV with a hood scoop and a sunroof. The last known direction of the suspect vehicle was northbound on Regional Road 24. The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years of age, about 5’10” with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing a black jacket or hoodie and blue jeans.
