Niagara Regional Police responded at 9 o’clock Monday night to a residential address on Melody Trail near Arthur Street in St. Catharines. Upon arrival, an interaction took place between patrol officers and an adult male. As a result of the interaction, the adult male was shot by police. Niagara EMS paramedics responded alongside members of the St. Catharines Fire & Emergency Services. Despite lifesaving measures, the male was pronounced deceased. The Special Investigations Unit has been notified and have invoked their mandate. The incident is also being investigated by detectives from the NRPS.
