Saturday, November 11th is Remembrance Day. Ceremonies are planned across Canada, and of course, in Niagara.
Here is a list of events planned across the Region:
In St. Catharines, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 will hold a service beginning at City Hall 10:00 a.m., The parade to the Cenotaph will start at 10:30 a.m., with the service at the Memorial Park Cenotaph on St. Paul St West getting under way at 10:45 a.m.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 138 will hold a service beginning at the Merritton Legion, at 10:30 a.m. with the service at the Cenotaph at 11:00 a.m.
In Thorold, a Cenotaph service is scheduled for Memorial Park on Albert St East at 11:00 a.m.
In Niagara Falls, a A service will be held at the Gale Centre on Thorold Stone Road at 11:00 a.m.
There will also be a service beside the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Fairview Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
In Fort Erie, a service will take place at the Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery Cenotaph, Farr Avenue and Gorham Road at 11:00 a.m.
And a gathering will be held at Mather Arch at 2:00 p.m
In Welland, Legion Branch 4 on Morningstar Avenue will host a service at 10:45 a.m.
As well, a service will take place at the Welland Cenotaph in Chippawa Park beginning at 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
In Port Colborne, a service will be held a the Cenotaph at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park starting at 10:45 a.m. Another service will be held at the Cenotaph at Cedar Bay Centennial Park on Vimy Rd at 11:00 a.m.
There will be a service at the Grimsby Cenotaph at the Grimsby Museum on Murray Street at 10:30 a.m.
A service will take place at the Beamsville Cenotaph on King St, at 11:00 a.m.
In Niagara-on-the-Lake, a service is scheduled for the Queen Street Cenotaph at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a service at Brock’s Cenotaph in Queenston at 1pm
In Smithville, a Cenotaph service is planned at 172 St. Catharines Street at 10:30 a.m.
There will be a service at the Wainfleet Cenotaph on Highway 3 at 10:45 a.m.
And the Fonthill Legion will host a service at Veterans Park on Hwy. 20 East at 10:45 a.m.
