NCDSB Trustee relieved of all duties as Trustee until June 30th

The Niagara Catholic District School Board says Trustee Natalia Benoit breached the Board’s Trustee Code of Conduct Policy and has been barred from attending all Board and Committee meetings and relieved of all duties and roles as a trustee until June 30. The decision was made by the majority of trustees in a recorded vote during a Special Board Meeting on Tuesday. Under the Education Act, she will continue to receive her salary from the Board.  Benoit has at least 14 days to appeal. Benoit, who has been on a leave from her role as trustee since September, attended the meeting virtually but did not speak. Benoit out forward a motion last spring to reverse the board’s decision to fly the Pride flag at the school board during the month of June, and was also recorded by local media allegedly appearing to compare the Pride flag to a Nazi flag.
