Man Arrested after Violent Break and Enter

Niagara Regional Police responded to a report of a violent residential break and enter in Grimsby just before 3 o’clock yesterday morning. Officers attended a home in the area of Main Street East and Robinson Street North and met with a male victim who’s injuries are believed to be related to being struck repeatedly by a blunt weapon.  The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The initial investigation determined that unknown suspects had broken into the victim’s home and assaulted him.  The victim was able to free himself and get help. Officers converged on the area, with an NRPS K9 Unit called in to assist.  Police Service Dog Atlas was able to track and locate one of the suspects near Sandra Crescent. A 28 year-old Etobicoke man has been arrested and faces several charges. The investigation continues, and detectives have reason to believe it was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
