Niagara Regional Police responded at 3:45 Wednesday afternoon to a report of two commercial armed robberies in Beamsville. Officers attended two businesses, the Coastal Kitchen Bar and Home Hardware on King Street. The initial investigation determined that a male had entered the businesses within minutes of each and brandished a black handgun and demanded money. The suspect did not receive any money. He walked northbound Central Avenue. None of the employees were physically injured. Due to the direction the suspect walked from the scene officers attended nearby childcare facilities to ensure they were safe. Out of an abundance of caution the facilities went into a hold and secure status till officers could search the area. A police search of the area did not locate the suspect, who is described as a white male, approximately 35 years old, 6 feet tall, and about 175 lbs. This is an active ongoing investigation.
