Female in Custody for Impaired Operation Causing Death After Fatal Collision in Niagara Falls

A Niagara Falls woman faces impaired driving charges after a fatal collision on Tuesday morning. Niagara Regional Police responded just after 8am to a collision with injuries on Beaverdams Road between Beechwood Road and Garner Road in Niagara Falls. Officers determined a collision occurred involving a white 2009 Mercedes-Benz C350 that was travelling west on Beaverdams Road and a Toyota Camry that was travelling east on Beaverdams. The driver of the Camry, a 67 year old Thorold man, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital by Niagara EMS paramedics.  Despite lifesaving measures,  he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Investigation has determined, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz was impaired by alcohol at the time of the collision.  She was placed under arrest at the scene by uniform patrol officers.  She did not sustain any injuries that required hospitalization in the collision. 25 year old Zoey Anne Marie Hughes of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences: Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death and  Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Exceed Blood Alcohol Concentration.
