Family Day weekend activities in St. Catharines

The City of St. Catharines invites you to celebrate Family Day weekend on Feb. 19 with a lineup of aquatic, skating, museum, and community centre activities.

Aquatics at St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre: Free leisure swims will run throughout the day from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 19. Visit stcatharines.ca/Kiwanis for facility information and stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC to make a reservation. Residents can make reservations starting at 9 a.m. two days before the scheduled swim. Public Skating Public skating timeslots are available all weekend long at Seymour-Hannah and Bill Burgoyne Arenas. Registration is required. Book a time at stcatharines.ca/FDSkating.

Family Fun Day at the Farmers Market: Drop by St. Catharines Farmers Market between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Feb. 17 for all ages games and giveaways.

Recreation Programs: Pre-register the family for activities at Port Weller Community Centre. Kids aged two to 12 can explore the Big Blue Blocks from 10 a.m. to noon by preregistering at stcatharines.ca/BigBlueBlocks. Register the family at stcatharines.ca/FamilyBingo for an all-ages game from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone aged six and up can enjoy Family Pickle Ball from noon to 2 p.m. Book a spot at stcatharines.ca/FamilyPickleball. Remember that adults must remain on-site with children.

St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre: In cooperation with St. Catharines Library, story times and fun museum programs will be offered at the museum on Friday, Feb. 16 – a PD Day for elementary schools – starting at 10:30 a.m. Take advantage of a fun-filled day at the museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Family Day, Feb. 19. Programming will be offered including Toddler Town Play Space and other family-friendly activities. The collection vaults will be open with behind-the-scenes tours throughout the day. Tours are limited to groups of 10. While there is no pre-registration required, visitors must register for these tours when they arrive. Admission to the museum is by donation.

The following facilities will be closed for Family Day on Monday, Feb. 19:

City Hall and administrative offices; Dunlop Drive, Port Dalhousie and West St. Catharines Older Adult Centres; Russell Avenue Community Centre; Victoria Lawn Cemetery offices (visitation is always available from dawn to dusk)
