Detectives Seeking Public’s Help in Identifying Suspects from Pen Centre Robberies

Niagara Regional Police attended the Pen Centre in St. Catharines just before 8:45 Monday night for a robbery in progress. Information was that four unknown masked males entered the Pen Centre and attempted to commit robberies at Kavar Jewellers and Griffin Jewellers simultaneously. Investigation revealed that two suspects entered Griffin Jewellers, where they began to smash the glass show cases with a hammer.  The suspects stole assorted jewelry and ran from the store. At Kavar Jewellers, two other suspects entered the store, demanded cash and assaulted an employee however both suspects were chased out by a bystander without obtaining any currency. No employees or members of the public were physically injured. There was a significant amount of damage caused to Griffin Jewellers. The suspects ran through the mall to the exit closest to Sport-Check/Fit4less on the northeast side of the mall where they got into a 2022 grey Honda CRV. The Honda was stolen from Etobicoke on Sunday. The stolen vehicle was located abandoned in Toronto early Tuesday morning.

The unknown suspects are still outstanding and are considered armed and dangerous.  The suspects are described as:

Suspect 1:

  • Male
  • 18-28 years old
  • Dark skin tone

Suspect 2:

  • Male
  • 18-28 years old
  • White

Suspect 3:

  • Male
  • 18-28 years old
  • Dark skin tone

Suspect 4:

  • Unknown

The two individuals that committed the robbery within the Griffin Jewellers appeared to be wearing “Bape” hooded sweatshirts as per the pattern and graphics on the hood.
