Detectives Investigating Shooting Incident in Lincoln – UPDATE

Niagara Regional Police Service have continued to investigative a shooting incident that occurred on May 20th, 2023 at 11:37pm in the Town of Lincoln. Initial investigation found that a white Hyundai Santa Fe sport utility vehicle  stopped on Central Avenue between John Street and Jackson Street.  A lone male suspect exited the driver’s side of the vehicle at approximately 11:35pm and approached the front of the residence.  The male fired approximately eight shots at the house from a handgun. The house and an adjacent parked car were struck by the gunfire. At approximately 11:37pm the white Hyundai proceeded to drive northbound on Central Avenue at a high rate of speed fleeing the area.  The occupants of the home were asleep at the time of the shooting. They were uninjured. 20 year old Salomon Bashir of Hamilton has been identified as the shooter. Bashir is currently in the custody of Ontario Correctional Services on an unrelated matter.  He has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences related to the incident: Discharge Firearm With Intent to Wound, Endanger Life or Prevent Arrest, Carry Concealed Weapon and Assault With a Weapon. BASHIR is scheduled to attend court on November 6th, 2023, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
