At approximately 8:50 Sunday morning, Niagara Regional Police attended the Avondale store at 80 Pelham Road in St. Catharines regarding an alarm call for service. Investigation revealed that a male had just entered the store, brandished a knife toward an employee and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area. The suspect was last seen on foot, Westbound on Cumming Street toward Rykert Street. The K9 Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area however had negative results in locating the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 35 years of age, slim, 6 feet tall, and was wearing a long dark grey/black winter parka down to his knees with the hood up, black sweatpants and black shoes and green gloves.
