POLICE SERVICES BOARD RE-ELECTS CHAIR AND ELECTS NEW VICE CHAIR

Jen Lawson was re-elected Chair of the Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board for a second term by the members of the Board at their first meeting held on January 11. Nyarayi Kapisavanhu was elected to serve her first term as Vice-Chair. Chair Lawson was first appointed to the Board on November 20, 2020, and re-appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for an additional two-year term beginning on November 20, 2023. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and brings over 20 years of strategic leadership, collaboration, and business experience from a diverse background in the public and private sectors. Vice Chair Kapisavanhu was appointed by Niagara Regional Council as its community representative to serve on the Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board on February 23, 2023.  She is the Executive Director at Tools of Empowerment for Success Niagara, an organization that empowers immigrant and marginalized women through multi-lens educational workshops, programs, and other support services to improve their economic, educational and social outcomes.
