Detectives Investigating Homicide in the Town of Lincoln

Niagara Regional Police responded to a rural residential address located on Victoria Avenue between Greenlane and John Street, in the Town of Lincoln just before 8AM Wednesday. Detectives from the Criminal Investigative Unit led the initial investigation and received support from the Homicide Unit and Forensic Services Unit. Members of the Emergency Task Unit, Canine Unit, and Marine Unit were deployed to the property to assist with a coordinated search. At approximately 12:20pm, an adult female was located, deceased. A 56 year old male, who is a resident of the Town of Lincoln, has been arrested and charged with one count of First Degree Murder. As the incident involves intimate partner violence, at this time, the NRPS will not be releasing the name of the accused in an effort to protect the identity of the victim and her surviving family. The NRPS Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation.  Area residents can expect a continued police presence in the area.  There is no on-going threat to public safety.
