And we are sad to report the passing of one of the all-time greats on the independent wrestling scene in Ontario over the weekend. Rob Thomson, better known to wrestling fans across the province as “Rage”, suffered a cardiac arrest backstage minutes after competing in a match at a wrestling show in Hamilton on Saturday night. Fellow wrestlers performed CPR until medical responders arrived on-scene, but despite their best efforts to resuscitate him, Thomson passed away. An autopsy took place on Sunday. Thompson was a mainstay on the provincial wrestling scene for years, including Niagara-based Crossfire Wrestling, where he was the current heavyweight champion, and the first and only grand slam champion, winning all four major belts in the promotion. Rob Thompson was just 45 years of age at the time of his passing.
